Kjell Vos Portfolio!

I post about code here and other IT related subject matter.

Data visualization of music listen history

I have been busy with data visualization. I have my music listen history from 6/17/2015 till 10/20/2020. I used this to visualize the data.

Feel free to zoom in, the graph’s are all interactive. Double click zooms back out. it’s not very mobile friendly I advise you to turn your screen so that it’s wide. And double click becomes double tap. You can also zoom in by left click and holding and dragging.

Line graph:

It’s the total amount of songs played everyday from 6/17/2015 till 10/20/20.

You can see the bump in the beginning when I started tracking, in my enthusiasm I listened to a lot more music during that period.

Heatmap:

It’s a heatmap of how much I listened in the morning(0:00-8:00), afternoon(8:00-16:00) or evening(16:00-23:59).

Friday afternoon is when i have the most chance to be listening to music according to this data. And monday afternoon I listen a lot too.

Scatter graph:

Here you can see which artists I listened to and how many songs of that artist. Tap on a circle to see the artist.

Infected Mushroom is my most listened to band with over 4000 plays on over 180 songs.

Bar graph:

This shows plays by artist which shows who I listened to the most.

Word cloud:

This one shows the words most used in all the lyrics of all 9000 songs I have listened too. Took a long time to gather and download all the lyrics, I did automate it of course. But rate limiting got me.

Pretty fun right!
